Marble and natural stone restored on board, alongside in Port Vell or during a yard period.

Yacht marble restoration Barcelona: a city port with one of the Med’s largest yards

Yacht marble restoration in Barcelona is shaped by two neighbours that sit almost side by side in the old port: a city-centre superyacht marina that has become a winter home for many crews, and MB92, a refit yard able to dry-dock yachts of more than two hundred metres. Many yachts come here either for a long yard period or to spend the cold months alongside, and both situations leave natural stone needing care before the next season.

Our team travels to your yacht in Barcelona and works wherever she happens to be: on the long superyacht quay of Port Vell, on a hard-standing berth inside the yard, in a marina along the coast, or off the beaches if conditions allow. Interventions are carried out today by the travelling team of Les Traitements du Sud, the stone-care company that looks after yachts on the Côte d’Azur. Marble, onyx, travertine, granite and quartzite are all treated in place, with a small crew working to your schedule.

Why stone on board ages quickly in Barcelona

A yacht that winters in a city is lived in differently from one laid up in a quiet bay. Crew come and go every day through the gangway, deliveries arrive by trolley, and grit from the quayside paving ends up on polished lobby floors. When the yacht then enters a refit, contractors cross the same floors with tools and boots, and fine dust from sanding settles into open pores in the stone.

The result, by March or April, is a familiar picture: scratched entrance floors, dull patches around the bar, etch rings on tables left by guests the previous summer, and bathroom vanities that have lost their gloss after months of daily cleaning. None of this is unusual, and almost all of it can be corrected without removing a single piece of stone.

Where we work in Barcelona

Barcelona’s yachting waterfront runs from the old port at the foot of La Rambla, past Barceloneta, up to the new marinas at the north-eastern edge of the city. Here is how we approach each part of it.

  • Marina Port Vell
  • MB92 Barcelona
  • Marina Vela
  • Port Fòrum

Marina Port Vell

Known for several years as OneOcean Port Vell, the marina is now operated again as Marina Port Vell, and Monaco-based Mirazur Capital took a majority stake in 2026. Its 400-metre superyacht quay, described as the longest in the Mediterranean, takes yachts up to 190 metres, and a 2024 redevelopment added berths for yachts up to 70 metres. The marina runs a crew programme of yoga, training and social events, which says a lot about its role: many crews spend the whole winter here. For us, that means yachts that are reachable for weeks at a time, so stone work can be spread over several short visits rather than squeezed into one long day.

Entry to the inner Port Vell basin passes under a lifting pedestrian footbridge that opens at set times through the day. It matters little for a team arriving on foot, but it affects any yacht moving from an outer berth to the inner pontoons, so we plan our days around the yacht’s own movements.

MB92 Barcelona

Founded in 1990 and refitting superyachts since 1992, MB92 occupies a large site on the Passeig Joan de Borbó side of the port. Its facilities include a 220-metre dry dock, a 4,800-tonne shiplift opened in 2019 for yachts up to around 100 metres, a Syncrolift and a travelift, plus repair quays where up to fourteen yachts can lie at once. The yard handles more than a hundred superyachts a year. Stone restoration during a yard period has to fit the yard’s own rules on contractors, safety and access, so we work through the captain, the owner’s project manager or the yard team, never around them. Please check with the yard before booking us, and we will supply whatever documentation is requested.

Marina Vela

Next to the W Hotel at the southern tip of Barceloneta, Marina Vela offers superyacht berths of up to 85 metres alongside a covered automated dry store for small boats. Access is private and monitored around the clock, so, as elsewhere, the team’s names are passed to the marina through the captain before the first visit.

Port Fòrum and the north-east marinas

At Sant Adrià de Besòs, Port Fòrum has a private large-vessels area with berths up to 80 metres and travelifts for smaller boats. Nearer the centre, Port Olímpic has just had its pontoons replaced with new floating jetties, though it mainly serves smaller craft. Beyond the city limits, the marinas of Badalona and El Masnou to the north-east and Port Ginesta to the south-west complete the picture, all within easy reach for the team.

Off the beaches

Some yachts visiting Barcelona in summer choose to stay outside the harbour for a few days. We can come aboard by tender if the swell is low enough for precise polishing; on a lively day, we would rather return when the yacht moves into a berth. The aim stays the same: we come to your yacht, wherever she is.

Our services for yachts in Barcelona

The requests we expect most in Barcelona are linked to winter: restoring floors and bathrooms after months alongside or a yard period, then preparing the stone for summer.

On board

Work done in place, with dust controlled

Polishing on board means working in occupied, finished interiors. Adjacent joinery, carpets and upholstery are covered, slurry and dust are extracted at the tool, and products are chosen for confined spaces. During a refit, we agree with the project manager where our zone starts and ends so that other trades are not held up.

The Barcelona year, from a stone-care point of view

Late autumn. The Barcelona International Boat Show fills the quays of Port Vell each October (the 63rd edition ran from 14 to 18 October 2026). Shortly after, wintering yachts settle into their berths and yard slots at MB92 begin.

Winter. The best window for substantial stone programmes. A yacht that is alongside for months can host us in stages: floors one week, bathrooms the next, without disrupting crew life on board.

March to May. Yachts leaving the yard or ending their winter stay need their interiors ready for the first trips. Etch removal, final polishing and protection are typical at this stage, and timing is tight, so an early call helps.

Summer. Yachts call in to embark guests, provision or change crew between trips. Short interventions between guest periods, such as an etched bar top or a stained vanity, are what we plan for then.

Before we come aboard in Barcelona

  • Tell us whether the yacht is at Marina Port Vell, at MB92, at Marina Vela, at Port Fòrum or elsewhere on the coast
  • For a yard period, confirm that the yard accepts external contractors for your project and send its requirements
  • Share the dates the yacht is free of guests and the areas the crew can release
  • Send photos of each surface, close up and from a distance
  • Let us know if an NDA is required before the visit

Barcelona: questions we are asked

We are wintering at Marina Port Vell. Can the work be split over several visits?

Yes, and in Barcelona it often makes sense. A long winter stay lets us treat one area at a time, so the crew keeps the use of the yacht and the interior is never fully closed off.

Can you work on board while we are in refit at MB92?

That depends on the yard’s rules for your project. Many owners and project managers bring in specialist contractors; we simply need the yard’s agreement and its access and safety requirements, which we follow to the letter.

Is the footbridge in Port Vell a problem for your team?

No. We arrive on foot or by van at the quay. The lifting footbridge only matters for yachts moving in or out of the inner basin, which we take into account when planning.

Can you be ready before the yacht leaves for the Balearics in spring?

Usually, if you contact us a few weeks before departure. Etch removal and polishing of a handful of surfaces is quick; full floors need more time and are better done in winter.

Do you also work in the marinas outside the city, such as Badalona or Port Ginesta?

Yes. The coast north and south of Barcelona is within easy reach for the team, and the method is the same as in the city.

Do you have a local office in Barcelona?

Not at present. There is no address or local office: the team travels to your yacht for each job and works on board, or in a nearby workshop for removable pieces.

Works in Barcelona are carried out by Les Traitements du Sud (France), travelling team.
