A city harbour facing Capri, Ischia and the Sorrento peninsula
Yacht marble restoration in Naples starts with an unusual setting. Few superyacht berths in the Mediterranean sit this close to a city of a million people: from the quay at Mergellina, the crew can see Vesuvius across the bay and the Castel dell’Ovo a short walk away, while guests are driven to the old town, to Pompeii or straight to the airport at Capodichino.
Naples works as a hinge. Yachts embark guests here, then spend days between Capri, Ischia, Procida, Positano and Amalfi before coming back to resupply or change parties. Each turnaround means luggage carried over marble steps, a full housekeeping cycle in the bathrooms and an evening service on the saloon bar. Small damage accumulates quickly, and our team travels to your yacht in Naples, or out in the gulf, to put it right between two trips.
Naples on the yacht route
Coming down from Porto Cervo or from the Tuscan coast, Naples is usually the first large port of the southern Tyrrhenian. Some yachts stay for the whole summer around the gulf; others stop on their way to the Aeolian Islands, Sicily or across to Malta.
Where we work in Naples and around the gulf
- Molosiglio
- Molo Luise
Mergellina and Molo Luise
On the western side of the city, the outer breakwater of Mergellina (the Molo di Sopraflutto) is home to Marina Molo Luise, run by a long-established Neapolitan yacht agency. It offers berths from about 7 to 90 metres and is the main city-centre address for large yachts. Space is tight: in summer 2023 the harbour master barred yachts over 75 metres from Mergellina for safety reasons, so the largest units often end up elsewhere in the gulf. When we board at Molo Luise, the visit is arranged through the captain and the agency, usually early in the day before traffic on the seafront builds up.
Molosiglio and Santa Lucia
Between the Royal Palace gardens and the Castel dell’Ovo, the small harbour of Molosiglio and the moorings of Santa Lucia and the Borgo Marinari are mostly occupied by the city’s historic rowing and sailing clubs and by local motor yachts. These are smaller boats than those at Mergellina, but owners with marble in a head or a galley counter are no less demanding about it, and the same methods apply at a smaller scale.
Castellammare di Stabia
At the foot of the Sorrento peninsula, the Stabia Main Port takes superyachts stern-to up to about 110 metres and alongside up to 180 metres. For the biggest yachts visiting the gulf, this is often the practical berth, about half an hour from Capodichino airport and within easy reach of Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast by tender or car.
Refit yards around Naples
Inside the commercial port, at Calata della Marinella, Palumbo Superyachts runs a refit yard with two floating docks (the larger one 100 metres long), a 520-tonne travel lift and berths for vessels up to 200 metres. To the west, Sudcantieri works in Pozzuoli; to the south, a yard in Torre Annunziata and a yacht service on Procida complete the picture. When a yacht is in one of these yards for a refit or a winter period, marble work can be planned with the project manager, between the dusty trades and the final clean.
At anchor in the gulf
Much of the season is spent off Capri, the Sorrento coast and Ischia, and the rules are getting stricter. In the Punta Campanella marine protected area, facing Capri, anchoring is banned in zones A and B and allowed in zone C only inside designated areas such as Marina del Cantone or Marciano, between 8 am and 8 pm and never on Posidonia. Capri itself is on its way to becoming a marine protected area after a 2026 law launched the process. We work at anchor when the tender transfer is safe and the yacht is legally positioned; otherwise we meet her on her next marina night.
Our services for yachts in Naples
The pattern of short trips and quick turnarounds shapes what crews ask us for in the gulf.
- Etch mark removal: the most common call. Lemon, wine, tomato and some cleaning products dull polished marble; we restore the finish locally without redoing the whole surface.
- Marble repair: chipped nosings on the stairs after a busy embarkation, a cracked tile near a shower, a corner knocked off a table. Filling with tinted resin, then levelling and polishing.
- Polishing: bringing a dull floor or wall back to its original gloss, ideally when the yacht has a few clear days at the quay or in the yard.
- Crystallisation: for calcite marble floors that carry constant traffic from the aft deck into the saloon.
- Protection: water and oil repellent impregnation, best applied before the first guests of the season.
- Maintenance contracts: for yachts that base themselves in the gulf for the summer and want a planned visit between charter parties.
Onyx, travertine, granite and quartzite receive the same care. Each stone is tested on a hidden area before any product touches the visible surface.

When to book marble work in the Gulf of Naples
The local yachting calendar opens in winter, not in summer: the NauticSud boat show is held in Naples every February (7 to 15 February in 2026). From late spring, yachts start arriving for the season, which stays busy through July and August and often runs well into September, when the water is still warm and Capri is quieter.
The easiest moments for us are the days before the first charter, a stop at Mergellina or Stabia between two parties, and the autumn, when some yachts head into a Naples yard before moving on. For a full floor polish or crystallisation, a yard period remains the most comfortable option for the crew.
Because Capodichino is close to both Mergellina and the port, a short visit to treat a single surface can usually be fitted into a single day.

A few details help us prepare a visit to a yacht in Naples quickly and accurately:
- Where the yacht is: Molo Luise, Stabia, a club berth at Santa Lucia, a yard, or at anchor off Capri or Sorrento
- The dates she is free of guests, even if only for half a day
- Two or three photos of each surface, one close-up and one wider shot
- The products the crew currently uses on the stone
- Any access constraints from the marina, the agency or the yard
- Whether the owner requires a non-disclosure agreement
Our general method is explained on the page how we work on board.
Naples: questions from captains and crews
Can you work on a yacht berthed at Molo Luise in Mergellina?
Yes. Access is arranged with the captain and the marina operator. We keep equipment compact so that it can be carried along the pontoon and on board without blocking the passerelle.
Our yacht is too long for Mergellina and lies at Castellammare di Stabia. Do you go there?
Yes. Stabia is a common berth for the largest yachts visiting the gulf, and our team travels there in the same way as to the city marinas.
We spend most nights at anchor off Capri. Can you come to us?
If the yacht is legally anchored, the sea is calm and the tender can bring us and our equipment on board safely, yes. If conditions are not right, we plan the visit for her next night alongside.
Can marble work be done while we are at the Palumbo yard in the port?
Yes, with the yard’s agreement. We coordinate access and timing with the project manager so that our work fits into the refit schedule.
Do you have an office in Naples?
No. We have no local office or address: the travelling team of Les Traitements du Sud, the stone-care company that looks after yachts on the Côte d’Azur, comes to the yacht for each intervention.
Will you mention our yacht on your website?
Never without the owner’s written consent. A non-disclosure agreement is available on request.
Today, work on yachts in Naples is carried out by the travelling team of Les Traitements du Sud, under the EU freedom to provide services. Other Italian ports are listed on our page on yacht marble restoration in Italy.
